When we began this blog our first comment was that we do not wish to preach from here, this blog is not meant for that purpose.
For the past several weeks we have been absent from the blog as the result of another of our desires. We do not wish to exist on gifts and donations. Rather, we believe the community should earn the finances necessary to meet its needs and the needs of those we serve. To that end; Kay, Angel and I have been doing a bit of travel these past weeks in an effort to do our part in earning funds to benefit the community and those we serve. That is the primary motivating factor in making application for a license from the State of New Mexico to open and operate a medical marijuana dispensary here in New Mexico. Albuquerque being centrally located makes it easy to serve the entire state.
We know the application process to be authorized by the New Mexico Department of Health to obtain and possess this drug under a doctors supervision is expensive enough. Once a patient has jumped through that hoop, and we are in agreement with the state that an open door policy for any and all medical conditions is not acceptable, the cost of obtaining the product is difficult for many on a fixed income as medical use of the product is not covered by insurance in the United States.
Another of our desires is to make the product available to those patients with limited income as best we are able. As the members of our order do not receive an income, or salary, that helps to reduce our operating expenses. There are other benefits to a religious non-profit which help to reduce the operating expenses giving us a cushion that would allow us to aid those with a dire need.
