The American people were left ignorant of the happenings in Germany during the rule of the Nazi party. News media did not touch the subject any more than politicians. Perhaps because the likes of Henry Ford and other moguls in this country were burning both ends of the candle at the same time. When the sleeping giant was awakened on the attack of Pearl Harbor this nation responded in a manner never before seen, even during World War I.
Today place names such as Auschwitz-Burkina, Dachau, and Treblinka are but pieces of what seems to be a forgotten history. Men, women and children in the millions were sent to their death in such places. Events such as this must NEVER be forgotten. Of equal important, they must NEVER BE ALLOWED AGAIN, EVER.
Yet, today, society stands idly by as a brutal dictator in our time, in our moment in history, carries out the exact same action on the innocent.
The question which remains unanswered, at least to me is: How can a people who call themselves 'Christian' allow for the slaughter of the innocent in this, our time, yet hold a Memorial Day for the Slaughter of the Innocents by a King who would kill the King of Kings?
If I chastise, it is because chastisement is deserved. Unlike the yesteryears, the public at large is more aware of the day to day events in other parts of the world. Ignorance is no defense in this day and age of instant news. Jeremiah, once again, cries out: "A voice is heard in Ramah, mourning and great weeping, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because her children are no more."
John 20:22-23 "And when He had said this, He breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit. 23"If you forgive the sins of any, their sins have been forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they have been retained" This is a sin which I can find no possible means of forgiveness, unlike that of our fathers and mothers in past conflicts. May God have mercy on all our souls.
