Once again the people at Wal-Mart stepped up to the bat, this time at the Santa Fe stores. We were scheduled to do a fundraising in Santa Fe on Friday and Saturday. We were on the calendar. Well, a "church" showed up which, according to management, was actually scheduled for the first weekend of October. We were willing to share with them with us taking on entrance and their group taking the other entrance. This "church" group would have nothing of that idea. Rather than to have them chased away, we agreed to coming back for the October weekend. Management at the Supercenter called to the other store to see if we might do our fundraising there so the weekend would not be a total loss with us coming all the way from Albuquerque. The management at the older store stated there was no one scheduled for the weekend and invited us on down, which we did.
Due to the mishap with the church group, we did not get setup and begin seeking donations until 11:30. By 3 p.m. a total of $250.00 in donations was made. That was something of a miracle.
We owe the employees of the New Mexico Wal-Mart stores a great deal of gratitude as a result of their efforts on our behalf. Their commitment to the men and women, the veterans, of our armed forces, goes far beyond that of any corporation we have seen to this date.
"Thank You, Wal-Mart!"
