Several years ago, an artist painted a beautiful picture of a boy shooting lots and lots of paper airplanes into the sky. They are all being directed to the same place high up and in front of him. As he shoots each paper plane falls to the ground in front of him, again and again. The ground is covered with snow, and the sky is filled with thick clouds - - except for one small clearing where the deep blue of the night sky can be seen through it. It has become a gateway to Heaven.
So very often our prayers, and other steps, taken in blind obedience to the Spirit, seem as pointless as shooting paper airplanes into the sky. But, the eyes of faith know full well it is no coincidence that that will be the place where the clouds part and Heaven penetrates earth's concerns.
Sometimes Satan will do all that he is allowed to do to stand in the way of the purposes of God. We underestimate the contribution that our prayers can make in defeating the devices and schemes of the enemy of God and Christianity. Territorial spirits do have influence on, or by default have jurisdiction over, areas and their inhabitants. But, the faithful prayer of even one person can swing the balance of spiritual conflict in which they are involved.
The significance and secret power of prayer is lost on recent generations of a people who dare to call themselves Christians. The mystery of prayer is God's willingness to act on our behalf. The lack of prayer on the part of those who claim to follow Christ in this modern world so often impedes His intercession.
Daniel cried out to God in the depths of the lion's den. God heard and answered Daniel's prayer immediately, but the enemy intercepted and delayed the answer. His persistence in prayer won out in the end.
But I am not defeated and I will not be;
God sends His angels, and they fight for me - Priority
