This is going to be like one of President Roosevelt's famous "Fireside Chats". We are all of us a community. From the community of nations down to the neighborhood block, we all belong to one another. Whether we take that to heart, or not, is of little difference as our opinions do not change the facts. And, the fact is a little over 2000 years ago a man of Nazareth taught that very premise. ...Of course, that fact did not go over then, as it does not now. It ended with His crucifixion. His message has lived on through the ages with few actually taking it to heart. It is a shame the only time people can come together is in the face of adversity and grave danger. Once again, the events of this week have shown the wonderful ability of people to come together in times of danger and turmoil. But, that is not how it is meant to be. We are all called upon to care, from the depths of the heart, for all others unconditionally, without reservation at every second of every minute of every hour of every day. Anything less misses the mark set by Christ. The question for each of us, whether we are in London, Boston, Beijing, Manila, Seattle, Toronto, Chicago, New York City, or even Albuquerque is are we holding back? Are we truly living our life as Christ taught? Or, are we nothing more than actors on the stage of life?
Remembering the words from Tiny Tim, "God Bless us, everyone."
